What We Are Investigating?
Our firm is launching a comprehensive investigation into Ali Bongo Ondimba over allegations that it has been suppressing critical reviews and unfavorable Google search results by fraudulently misusing DMCA takedown notices. These actions, if proven, could constitute serious legal violations—including impersonation, fraud, and perjury.
We conducted comprehensive analyses of fraudulent copyright takedown requests, meritless legal complaints, and other unlawful efforts to suppress public access to critical information. Our reporting sheds light on the prevalence and modus operandi of a structured censorship network, often funded and used by criminal enterprises, oligarchs and criminal entities seeking to manipulate public perception and bypass AML checks conducted by financial organisations.
The fake DMCA notices in this investigation appears to have been strategically deployed to remove negative content from Google search results illegally. Based on this pattern, we have reasonable grounds to infer that Ali Bongo Ondimba - or an entity acting at its behest - is directly or indirectly complicit in this cyber crime.
In most such cases, such ops are executed by rogue, fly-by-night 'Online Reputation Management' agencies acting on behalf of their clients. If evidence establishes that the subject knowingly benefited from or facilitated this scam, it may be deemed an 'accomplice' or an 'accessory' to the crime.
What are they trying to censor
Ali Bongo Ondimba’s tenure as Gabon’s president from 2009 to 2023 was marred by numerous allegations and controversies that have significantly tarnished his reputation. These issues encompass corruption, nepotism, election fraud, and human rights abuses, each contributing to a legacy of governance failures.
Corruption and Nepotism
Throughout his presidency, Bongo faced persistent accusations of embezzlement and favoritism.Investigations revealed that he and his family amassed substantial wealth, including luxury properties in France and Gabon, raising concerns about the misappropriation of public funds. The arrest and subsequent charging of his son, Noureddin Bongo Valentin, along with several cabinet members, for “high treason” and “active corruption” in September 2023, further underscored the depth of alleged corruption within his administration
Election Fraud and Democratic Erosion
Bongo’s rise to power in 2009 and his re-election in 2016 were both fraught with allegations of electoral fraud. The 2016 election, in particular, was marred by violence and claims of vote rigging, leading to widespread unrest. These controversies eroded public trust in the democratic process and highlighted systemic issues within Gabon’s electoral framework.
Human Rights Violations and Authoritarianism
Under Bongo’s rule, Gabon witnessed a decline in political freedoms and an increase in human rights abuses. The government’s crackdown on opposition figures and suppression of dissenting voices drew international condemnation. These actions painted a picture of an authoritarian regime unwilling to tolerate criticism or political plurality.
Health Concerns and Governance Challenges
In 2018, Bongo suffered a stroke, which led to prolonged absences from the public eye and fueled speculation about his capacity to govern. This health crisis precipitated a governance vacuum, exacerbating existing administrative challenges and contributing to political instability.
Military Coup and Ouster
The culmination of these issues was a military coup in August 2023, which ended Bongo’s 14-year rule. The coup leaders cited systemic corruption and mismanagement as primary justifications for their actions, reflecting the deep-seated dissatisfaction with Bongo’s leadership
Reputational Damage and Potential Motivations for Information Suppression
The aggregation of these allegations has severely damaged Bongo’s reputation, portraying him as a leader who prioritized personal enrichment over national welfare. For entities like Gulf Brokers, which operate in international markets, association with such a controversial figure could be detrimental. The adverse publicity surrounding Bongo’s tenure could undermine investor confidence and tarnish corporate image.
Given the extent of the reputational harm, there may be a compelling desire to suppress or remove these damaging narratives. The motivation to eliminate such information could be strong enough to consider illicit means, including cybercrimes, to achieve this end.The stakes involved in maintaining a positive public image and protecting financial interests might drive individuals or organizations to resort to unlawful actions to erase unfavorable information about Ali Bongo Ondimba

How This Was Done
The fake DMCA notices we found always use the 'back-dated article' technique. With this technique, the wrongful notice sender (or copier) creates a copy of a 'true original' article and back-dates it, creating a 'fake original' article (a copy of the true original) that, at first glance, appears to have been published before the true original
What Happens Next?
Based on the feedback, information, and requests received from all relevant parties, our team will formally notify the affected party of the alleged infringement. Following a thorough review, we will submit a counter-notice to reinstate any link that has been removed by Google, in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Additionally, we will communicate with Google’s Legal Team to ensure appropriate measures are taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
